My storytelling family photo sessions in Fernie are more than just standing or sitting together and smiling at the camera, I want your photos to be more than that – I want them to be memories that you can look back on and remember how that each moment felt. With young families, my sessions are usually child-led, which means a lot of focus gets put on the kiddos in a way that lets them decide where and what we get to do for our time together. They get to play, snuggle, run around, or whatever they decide they want to do! It really helps ease everyone’s nerves, and it just feels like a regular family hang out, with me just being there capturing it all, from the dirty feet to the sweet kisses.
The Hughes Storytelling Family Session
This is the third time I’ve had the privilege of documenting this incredible family of four, and it just gets sweeter every time. After rescheduling because of the rain and cold, we finally had a window of nice weather this spring, and we chose the perfect evening to have our session. It is pretty cool to get to see these boys grow up a little bit more every time I see them. There was also no shortage of fun had during our session. These dudes were an absolute riot. They were equal parts silly and sweet! Court brought a beautiful bouquet of tulips, that didn’t last long after the boys ran around with them, giving them to each other and to their momma. But they were still beautiful while they lasted and were a nice addition to the overall vibe of the session.
What better place to shoot a spring session than in James White Park. As a Fernie photographer, I have a ton of beautiful locations up my sleeve all over the town that show off the lush greenery and stunning mountains, if that’s what you’re looking for! James White Park is one of them, and is one of my go to spots that has wide open spaces, lots of trees and even the river close by.
