Elopements + Intimate Weddings

When Judy and Gareth decided to tie the knot, they envisioned an intimate, adventurous wedding that reflected their authentic love story and the stunning beauty of British Columbia. As a Cranbrook wedding photographer, I was so thrilled to be part of this intimate Cranbrook elopement. Their wedding day was nothing short of magical, combining the charm of the mountains with personal touches that made their day feel just like them!

Judy & Gareth’s Intimate Cranbrook Wedding

The day began at Judy’s family cabin on Rosen Lake, where Judy & Gareth got ready amidst the serene beauty of nature. The cabin, rich with 20+ years of memories and meaning, was the perfect spot to start and end their elopement. Judy’s mom played a significant role, not only in helping Judy get ready but also in leading the ceremony, making the day even more sentimental.

Their ceremony took place in the breathtaking mountains of Norbury Lake Provincial Park near Cranbrook, surrounded by the natural beauty they both love and miss living in Texas. The heartfelt vows exchanged in this picturesque setting were a testament to their deep connection and commitment. The intimate nature of the ceremony, with only a few loved ones present, highlighted the authenticity and love that defines their relationship.

Romantic Wedding Portraits at Bull River

Following their ceremony, we ventured to the scenic Bull River for some fun, romantic elopement portraits that truly captured the spirit of Judy and Gareth’s adventurous love. The rugged beauty of the Bull River provided a stunning backdrop, with its clear waters and lush surroundings enhancing the romantic and timeless feel of their portraits.

Judy and Gareth’s playful yet intimate interactions made for some incredible shots. From candid laughter to tender embraces, every moment was filled with genuine emotion and connection. These portraits are a perfect reflection of their love – natural, unposed, and deeply heartfelt.

Intimate Celebration Dinner near Cranbrook at Rosen Lake

Following the ceremony, we adventured back to Rosen Lake where the celebration continued back at their family cabin. Judy’s mom had arranged for chef Barrie from Fernie Catering Co. to create a special meal while they all enjoyed their back patio that overlooked Rosen Lake.

Some of the standout moments from their elopement day was their celebratory tequila shots, a fun and personal touch that perfectly captured their playful spirit, a sunset boat ride, which is a family tradition, and to top off the day, they had a lake jumping send off! Judy and Gareth cherished every moment of their elopement day, from their first look on the dock on Rosen Lake, to the spontaneous laughter and joy that filled the day. Getting to capture a small part of their story was truly a memorable one for me, and a day that will always stand out as a special one!
