I love a good maternity session, especially an at-home maternity session. It is such a beautiful way to celebrate you as a woman, and your pregnancy journey. At-home sessions also have a special place in my heart. I find people are most comfortable in their own space, especially when young kiddos are involved.
At-Home Maternity Session in Fernie, BC
I spent a wintery, February afternoon with K & her sweet little growing family at their beautiful home in Fernie, BC. We took our time, drinking coffee and me swooning over their stunning 1960s home that they have put so much love and hard work renovating to fit their style and vibe. K has such an eye for design!
Our focus for our at-home maternity session was to focus on K & her adorable bump, but we did find a way to include the rest of the fam in the session. Photos with young kiddos are always so fun, you never know how things are going to go! I love just embracing every moment as it unfolds and try to be as quick as I can for the sweet moments amongst the chaos.
Film-Inspired Maternity Session
Since my photography is so very much inspired by film and K’s home has a bit of a vintage-modern aesthetic to it, I wanted to emphasize the overall vintage vibe, and I absolutely LOVE how the photos turned out. I also had to capture a few of these special moments on Polaroids and it was such a special gift to give this little crew.
At-Home Maternity Sessions
As a Fernie & Kootenay, BC Lifestyle Photographer, I’m here to tell you that at-home maternity sessions are the BEST, for a few reasons. Firstly, it’s warm and cozy at home, especially in the winter months when the weather can be unpredictable and cold. You also get to be in the comfort of your own home, in your own space and if you need that cup of coffee to power through your session, it is close by! And the best reason of all, your home is such a special place. You spend SO much time here, growing your family. That is something so special to document, to always remember those moments of your home together 10 to 20 years down the road.
