The day of the session coincided with the first major snow dump of the season. With about a foot of snow falling nonstop, it was a picture-perfect day for Fernie Alpine Resort’s opening. Fresh from their ski day, the Galway family was full of energy and excitement, ready to make the most of their snowy family session.
Michelle, the heart of the family, was eager to document this phase of their lives. With busy schedules often keeping them apart, this session was a rare and cherished opportunity to be together. Michelle also mentioned how rare it is for her to be in photos, a sentiment many moms can relate to, so I made it a priority to capture her warmth and connection with her family.

While the original plan included a bonfire and marshmallow roasting to reflect one of their favorite family traditions, the relentless snow meant we had to improvise. Steve, the resident fire expert, managed to get a small fire going, allowing the kids to roast a marshmallow or two before the snow took over. Despite the weather challenges, the snowy setting offered endless opportunities for fun – snowball fights, snow angels, and plenty of laughs.
