Kristen and Tyler’s intimate wedding in Fernie, BC, was a day filled with love, tears, and breathtaking views, capturing everything that makes a Fernie wedding so special. As a Fernie wedding photographer, intimate weddings and elopements are some of my favorite to be part of, and I was thrilled when Kristen and Tyler decided they wanted to get married here! Surrounded by their closest friends, family, and their beloved pup, Boden, their day was a true reflection of their deep connection and shared love for the mountains.
A First Look at the Base of Fernie Alpine Resort
The day began with Kristen and Tyler getting ready separately so that they could have a quiet, private moment with just the two of them before they met up with the rest of their friends and family. They wanted mountains and a river or lake as a backdrop for their first look location and this felt like the perfect place to have an intimate moment together. Kristen and Tyler’s first look was emotional and heartfelt. They exchanged thoughtful gifts and spent some time, just the two of them, taking it all in and shedding the nerves before the ceremony. With the stunning Rocky Mountains surrounding them, this moment was a beautiful reminder of the adventure they were about to begin together. As a Fernie wedding photographer, these are some of the moments that are so special to witness and remind me why I love to photograph couples and weddings so much!
A Fernie Wedding Ceremony with a View
Knowing that they wanted to get married in front of the mountains, Kristen and Tyler chose Maiden Lake for their vows, a picturesque location right in town that offers pretty insane views of the lake and surrounding mountains. Their ceremony was a true reflection of their love, with just their closest loved ones present to witness their union. The ceremony was beautiful to capture – the heartfelt vows, the tears and so much love that filled that little ceremony spot, it was a privilege to be a small part of their wedding day.
Couples Portraits by the Elk River & Downtown Fernie
Following the ceremony, we ventured down one of my favorite walking trails that runs along the Elk River. As a Fernie wedding photographer, I have so many beautiful locations in my back pocket for ceremony ideas or couples portrait locations. We spent some time here, just the two of them, walking along the river, dipping their toes in and taking in every view and every moment together. I was able to get some beautifully candid shots of them taking in the landscapes of Fernie.
Our time together concluded with a visit to downtown Fernie, where we embraced the iconic views of the charming, mountain town. From the historic buildings to the celebratory tequila shots at Nevados, each element added a unique layer to their story, perfectly showcasing the essence of an intimate Fernie wedding. To celebrate tying the knot and sending the night off, they met back up with their friends and family for an intimate dinner at Cirque.
